TNG 1.4: Dinner

It was 8 p.m and I was sitting alone at the couch casually watching the television when I heard a noise in the kitchen. I peeked at the kitchen and I had no such luck, it was dark. A few minutes later, I felt uncomfortable. Shit. Now, I really don't have any other choice. I quickly took my jacket from the coat stand behind the door and went to the Brandon's house.

Without hesitation I pressed the doorbell, "Ding.. Dong.. Ding.. Dong.."
"That's not fair! I'm not even touching that thing." Masen said before he opened the door.

"Hey." I said, folding my hands across my chest.
"Hi. What are you doing here?" said Masen, I just noticed that he was wearing black t-shirt and brown shorts.
"Well, my sisters and my mom are coming home late due some problem and I kinda think if I can.." I paused for a second as I rubbed my neck.
"Hangout with us until your mom's come back?" Masen finished my sentence.
"Yeah, if you don't mind."
"Nahh, it's alright. Come on in, make yourself at home." he said with a smile.
"Thanks."

We walked in to the living room, there was Matt crossed legs on the floor playing PS3 that was connected to the television,
"Hey Matt, Victoria wants to hangout with us until her family comes home."
"You can call me Vic."
"Cool, and you can call me Batman." Matt joked without taking off his eyes from the television screen.

I sat on the couch facing the television while Masen joined Matt, continued playing PS3. There was a tint of awkwardness.
"Where's your family, Masen?" I decided to say something when I realized the house was quite empty except the presence of these two boys.
"They're out. Just like yours, and they're coming home late too."
"Oh. Your house is nice by the way."
"Thanks. And by the way, had your dinner yet?" Masen finally paused the video game and turned to me.
"Not yet. How about you guys?"
"Nope, and I think I'm gonna starve to death if I'm going to sleep here, Masen!"
"I'm sorry bro, I have nothing cooked in the kitchen, all frozen."
"I can cook for you guys." I shrugged.
"You can cook?" asked Masen, with a slight shocked expression on his face.
"Please say yes, or else I'm gonna eat him." Matt practically begged me.
"Yeah, I can cook. So, I'll be right back?" I said, it came out more like a question and disappeared to the kitchen.
"See Matt, that's a wife-to-be looks like. You know what they say about girls can cook right, and I quote 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach'. What else do you want in a girl?"
"Pish posh, get to know her first can you?"
"Hey Masen, where's the knife?" I shouted from the kitchen.
"The first shelf at the first right drawer." Masen shouted back.
"Found it, thanks!"
"Yeah, maybe I should." said Masen and they both continued playing the video game.

Later..

"Dinner's ready, I guess." I said.
"Wow, I'm impressed." Matt nodded as they came in.
"I found the spaghetti and I thought maybe you guys would like a pasta dinner."
Masen came and pulled a chair for me to sit and sat beside me, "So what's this?"
"Just a simple pasta cabonara with bacon strips."
"Yum, let's don't waste any more time and dig in!" Matt said.
"Yummy, you're an incredible cook. I don't mind living with you for a thousand years." Masen said.
"Thanks." I said with a laugh.
"You have a cute laugh." Masen said softly.
"Pardon?"
"Ehem ehem, nothing, I just said that this is so so delicious." Masen said.
"Good one bro." Matt chuckled.

We finished our dinner and cleaned up the table before we walked to the living room and sat on the couch, I sat beside Masen as he changed the television channel. There were no interesting shows so we decided to watch a movie, Matt jumped off the couch and searched for a movie at the television shelf.
"Are you guys up for a comedy movie or a scary movie?" he looked up from the DVDs he was holding.
"I'm up for a comedy movie. Not that I'm scared or anything." I tried to lie and I failed, terribly.
"It's okay if you're scared, our blondie here isn't that brave either." Masen laughed.
"Bullshit Masen, don't come crawling over me if you find a monster under your bed tonight." Matt sat back on the couch after he had inserted the DVD into the DVD player.
"I'm not the one who's sleeping on the floor."
"Shit." I heard Matt mumbled to himself, I forced myself not to laugh yet I giggled.

We watched the movie quietly, I brought both of my legs up on the couch and sat crossed legs. Then the door opened,
"Guys, we're home." Mrs. Brandon said. Mr. Brandon, Marie and Julie went upstairs.
"Oh hey, Mrs. Brandon." I said as the three of us turned our heads to the door.
"Well hello there Victoria, I didn't know you're here." said Mrs. Brandon.
"My family have some trouble with the car and I kinda scared to stay home alone. So, I came here, I'm sorry if I'm bothering you." I stood up from the couch when Mrs. Brandon came to us.
"Oh not at all, you can come here any time. Our family is your family."
"Thank you Mrs. Brandon. Well, I better get going now."

I thanked Mrs. Brandon before she went to the kitchen, I took my jacket and walked to the door.
"Vic, wait up!" Masen said as he walked towards me.
"Yeah?"
"Are you doing anything tomorrow?"
"I don't think so. Why?"
"Do you want to join us to the park?"
"And Lisa." Matt said from the couch.
"Hmm, sure I guess."
"Okay, can I have your number?"
"Aha? For?"
"I can be, err, your alarm clock for tomorrow." Masen said with a smile.
"Haha! Excuse!" Matt teased.
"Mind your own business, Matthew!"
"Haha, yeah sure." I said. Masen gave his phone and I dialled my number.
"Thanks. So, do you want me to walk you home?" said Masen.
"Masen, if you didn't notice, my house is just next door."
"Right, sorry. So, I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah sure. Bye, goodnight."
"Goodnight, take care." Masen smiled as he opened the door, I walked out and he shut the door behind me.

"I love you." whispered Masen as he slipped down slowly on the door.
"You are so damn desperate."
Then Mrs. Brandon walked out from the kitchen, Masen quickly stood up and ran to hug his mom,
"Thank you mom!" Masen said in his mother's arms.
"Woah, I know you will thank me. You're welcome. Now, you both go to bed." Mrs. Brandon demanded.
"Yes ma'am!" both of them said at the same time and walked upstairs to Masen's room. Mrs. Brandon turned off the television and lights, she smiled and shook her head thinking about her one and only son.
