"Vic.. Vic.. Victoria.. Wake up honey, we're here." I heard the sound of my mom's voice trying to wake me up.
I rubbed my eyes and yawned, leaned over to the window beside me and opened it, there was then a sudden spotlight of bright light shone over me, it took me a minute to realize it was a warm bright shiny day in Manhattan, New York, and the time there was around 8 a.m. My feet were frozen, my back and butt hurts. Well, I guess I have to deal with it. It took us about few hours to wait for all of our baggages, we managed to grab something to eat for dinner since we had ate on the airplane and climbed into literally two cabs to fit in our bags and headed to our new house.
"Hmm, not bad, nice neighbourhood." I said when I step out and took out our bags out of the cab.
"At least they got a playground just around the corner."
"Playground?! Yay!" the twins said.
"Yeah, you both can play there, but after you guys help me clean the house."
"Yes mummy!"
"Come on, lets go in." mom said as she paid the cab drivers.
I took my bags and followed them from behind. I took a small step into the new house and look around then continued carrying the bags to the first room and just threw it aside.
"The first room is mine!" I said loudly so that everybody can hear me from downstairs.
"No fair! I want the first room!" Amy said.
"Yeah, WE want the first room." said Yumi, the youngest.
Few minutes later I walked downstairs and went to the kitchen,
"Aww, too bad. First come first serve." and stuck my tongue out to the both of them.
As we were cleaning the kitchen the big truck arrived and honked, we hurried out to unload the truck as fast as we could and placed all off the boxes aside while the furnitures were brought in and placed into the positions that we wanted. It didn't took us a long time due to the number of people involved were around ten people and pretty much are experts in doing this things. When the truck left, all of us decided to clean the house since it wasn't that late yet, some of the boxes were brought up to the rooms. Then the doorbell rang, I opened the door and there was an old couple carrying a basket full of apples.
"Well hello there young lady, I'm Mrs. Steven and this is Mr. Steven. We're your neighbour." she gave me a warm smile "Is your mother home?"
"Of course, I'll call her for a moment." and disappeared to the kitchen where my mum were stacking the glasses in the top rack and came back to the door with my mom.
"Please come in." said mom as she wiped her dirty hands on the apron she wore before she started unpacking the things at the kitchen.
"Thank you, here's a basket of apples." handing the basket to my mom and she passed it to me.
I went to the kitchen to place the basket on the counter and came back to the living room and I sat on the hand rest on the single couch that she was sitting.
"Thank you, that's so kind of you. Those apples certainly looks fresh."
"You're very welcome. We have our own garden behind our house and we decided to use it wisely. By the way, I'm Mrs. Steven and Mr. Steven."
"That's great and very healthy, what else do you have in your garden besides the apples? I'm Susan Robinson, nice to finally meet someone in the neighbourhood." my mom said, she have the habit of moving her hands while talking, just like me. I guess like mother like daughter.
"We also planted few type of vegetables, ya know since we're getting old and we need to have proper meals every day." said Mr Steven.
Then Amy came from upstairs and sat on my mom's lap.
"How beautiful this child is. Your daughter?" Mrs. Steven asked.
Just before my mom could say anything, Yumi came running from upstairs and stood beside me.
"You mean beautiful children? Is there more?" Mr. Steven joked as he looked around.
"Haha, yes. These are my children, Victoria, Amy and Yumi." pointing to each one of us.
We talked about a few minutes mostly mom did all the talking and asking about the ways around Manhattan. Mr. Steven checked his watch and said, "Honey, we've got to go."
"Oh yes, we don't want to be late do we. I'm sorry my dear, but we've got to go."
"Oh it's okay, you could drop by any time you want. Thank you for coming."
We walked them to the door and waved goodbye, they got into an antique old car and droved off. They were such a nice couple, I wondered how long have they been together. Then mom continued cleaning the kitchen while the twins went upstairs. I asked mom if it was okay if I clean my room and leave her alone to clean the kitchen, she said yes, before I went upstairs I took three sandwiches and went up to the twins room, "Nerds." I called and practically threw the sandwiches to each of them. I took a quick shower before changing myself into my PJs and started unpacking the baggages whilst eating the sandwich. I took my time to hung some of my clothes in the closet and took out some of the stuffs in the boxes. Not long after that I heard my mom knocked on the door letting me know she had cleaned the kitchen yet the living room wasn't that complete, and also she needed a hand to clean her room.
I left immediately to her room because I felt guilty for not helping her with the kitchen and living room, so I hung few of her clothes while she took out some of the important stuffs out of the boxes and placed it on the dressing table and side table before she practically jumped onto her bed and slept instantly without even bother changing her clothes. I knew she was exhausted from cleaning the house and left the room quietly as I switched off the light on my way out, before I went to my room, I peeked in the twins' room, they were all snuggled up in their own beds and their room looks complete since they have each other to help out.
When I walked into my room I searched for my charger and phone inside my bag. My phone had died few hours ago and I didn't even care, why should I bother anyway? Life just went downhill just before we came here and to be honest I was quite happy we leaved LA though, I can't imagined how long I could stand looking at those so called friends. Pfft, it's all lies, he lied, she lied, everyone lied. I let out a heavy sigh and plugged in the charger to the electric socket near my bed side table and switched it on, a clear sharp light pierced into my eyes since I had switched off the light after I took my charger and phone. I squinted my eyes to look at the time that I had set to Manhattan time when we had landed and I can't believed it was already 2 a.m, so I placed my phone at the side table and closed my eyes.
